Keekorok
Lodge
Maasai
Mara
Keekorok
lodge, sited in the direct path of the migration, was
the first game lodge ever to be built in
the Maasai Mara. The Lodge, stands
amid the vast sweeping plains of Kenya's
southern Savannah the world famous Maasai
Mara.
At
the height of migration, Keekorok lodge
is surrounded by a swarming mass of wild
game, and there is hardly any need to go
on a game drive as it is not uncommon to
see all sorts of wildlife on the perimeter
of the grounds.
The
Lodge can easily be accessed by light aircraft,
landing at the Keekorok Airsrip or by road
from Nairobi approximately 280km away. Keekorok's
charm is its setting, its ease of access
from Nairobi and the liberal use of local
Sand River stone and cedar wood in its construction.
There is a lounge furnished in leather and
tartan and a dining room open to the terrace
allowing fresh breezes and views of the
Mara.
There are no fences around
Keekorok and its not uncommon to see elephants
and buffalo on the perimeter of the grounds
or even strolling in.
There
is a wide range of accomodation. Rooms are
simply but tastely furnished, many with
views of the Mara. And it is the Mara which
is the focus of your stay at Keekorok. Early
morning and afternoon game drives offer
animal encounters unparalleled in the world
all the year round. Ninety-five species
of mammals, amphibans and reptiles have
been recorded and over 400 bird species.
Nowhere in Africa is wildlife more abundant.
